The Amethyst is a condenser microphone from JZ Microphones, the type of mic studios commonly set up for detailed sources such as vocals, acoustic instruments and room recording. A microphone sits at the very start of the recording chain, so the choice of mic shapes everything that follows it. It suits home and project studios looking for a condenser to build a vocal or instrument chain around.
